Lawrence Holdcombe
Catlin ~ Lawrence F. (Hokie) Holdcombe, 70, of Catlin, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 12, 1967) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. He had been ill five years.
Born Jan. 23, 1897, in Catlin, he was the son of George P. and Ruth Jones Holdcombe. He was married in 1927 to Edith Hathaway, who died in 1942.
Mr. Holdcombe was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with Battery F, 77th Field Artillery. He was employed at Peabody Mine, the steel mills in Gary, Ind., and Douglas Aircraft Plant in Chicago.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ruth Holdcombe, a patient at the Smoot Memorial Care Home in Danville; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Hamm of Catlin; a nephew and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, a sister and a brother.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Carrington Funeral Home in Fairmount. Dennis Fulton will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home.
