John G. Kochvar Sr.
Westville, Ill. - John G. Kochvar Sr., 90, of 208 Market, died at 1:06 p.m. Sunday (July 17, 1988) at USMC, Sager Campus.
He was born near Budapest, Hungary, Feb. 22, 1898, the son of John and Mary Gregor Kochvar. He married Elizabeth Imro in Westville on Jan. 1, 1928. She survives. Also surviving: two sons, John Kochvar of Westville and Rich (Sandy) Kochvar of Danville; a brother, Joseph Kochvar of Rantoul; a sister, Mary Kochvar Hill of Urbana; and three grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly and Kimberly. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Andrew Kochvar and a sister, Julia Chantos.
John retired from Zigler Coal Co. in 1965. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He belonged to Sokal Lodge. He was a member of United Mine Workers. He enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Richard Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial: Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery; Visitation: 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.Tuesday at Lakeside-Urbas Funeral Home in Westville, with rosary at 6:30 p.m.Tuesday; Memorials: St. Mary's Building Fund.
