Mrs. Sarah Ann Jones, 79, Daughter of Pioneer, Expires at Home Here
A two-year illness ended in death for Mrs. Sarah Ann Jones, 79, life resident of Vermilion County and daughter of early settlers in her home at 1627 Meitzler Avenue at 6:10 p.m. Monday April 20, 1936.
 She was born east of Georgetown daughter of Jonathan and Emily Blakeney Thornton. He was a member of the 135th Illinois Infantry, a company enlisted during the Civil War and operated a grocery store in South Danville for several years.
 When she was 4 years of age Mrs. Jones' parents moved to Catlin, where she received her education and where she married in 1888 to Benjamin M Jones. Mr. Jones died during the influenza epidemic of 1920, three days after a son, Henry W., had died of influenza.
 Mrs. Jones joined Catlin Christian Church in 1870 and had been a Bible student and church worker until her death.
 She was one of seven children, all but one of whom she preceded her in death. The exception is a brother Charles Thornton, Seattle, Wash.
 Surviving are four children, Albert T, Mary F., and Wilbur Jones, at home and Urban J. Jones, Wallace, Idaho, and one granddaughter, Margaret L. Jones, who lives at the Meitzler Avenue address.
 The body was taken to Berhalter Funeral Home where services will be Friday afternoon at an hour to be announced later. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Catlin.
