Brigade Chief Pays Surprise Visit to Guards
Late Monday afternoon Col. Albert L. Culberison, Delavan, Ill., 129th and 130th Illinois Infantry Brigade commander, arrived in Danville for an inspection of Company D, machine gun outfit, Capt. Earl E. Rumbaugh commander.
It was a surprise visit by the brigade commander, but officers and men of he company reported at State Armory in record time for the inspection held in the evening.
Another inspection, the third within a month, will be held Apr. 30. This inspection will be by United States Army officers. First of the series was made early in April by the commander of 130th Illinois Infantry, Col. Robert Davis. At the time Companies A and D were inspected and on Apr. 30 the inspection will be of men and equipment of both local outfits.
