Service: Private: Virginia. He served in Capt. Thomas Hill's Company, Seventh Virginia Regiment, commanded by Col. Alexander McClennahan, Lt. Col. Holt Richardson, Lt. Col. William Holt. In November 1778 he transferred to the Fifth Regiment, commanded by Col. William Tussell.
