Frederick Ernest Harrison
*Frederick Ernest Harrison, 62, of 1656 N. Gilbert, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday (April 9, 1971) at Lake View Hospital where he had been a patient since April 3. Mr. Harrison had been in failing health about a year.
Born Jan. 15, 1909 in Danville, he was the son of Ernest B. and Elizabeth Ann Siddell Harrison. He attended Lincoln and Washington Grade Schools and was a member of Danville High School's first graduating class. Mr. Harrison also was a graduate of the former Utterback-Brown Business College.
He began his employment career as manager of Piggly-Wiggly and later managed his won grocery store. He worked for Illiana Dairy and then Dupont before joining the armed forces where he served with the Army during World War II.
Following discharge, he was employed by F. L. Jacobs Company in Danville which was purchased by the Dura Corp. Mr. Harrison then joined the FMC Corp. at Newport. When Dupont took over operations, of the Newport Army Ammunition Plant, he then worked as a purchasing agent.
Mr. Harrison married Dolores Marie Knowles on June 21, 1941. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, David Alan Harrison at home; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Kay Gidding of Oakwood; one grandson and his mother of Danville. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
Mr. Harrison was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men's Club, Olive Branch Lodge 38, Danville Consistory and served as patron of Danville Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. He also was a member of the National Purchasing Association and the Illinois Traffic Association. His hobbies were reading and golf.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Pape Memorial Home with the Rev. Patrick Flaherty officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
There will be masonic services at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday between 7 and 9 p.m.
