John Nydegger is Dead at Age of 67
Born and reared in Switzerland, but had lived long in America.
After a lingering illness, extending back over the past several months, John Nydegger, aged sixty-seven, died at his home at 801 West Voorhees street early Saturday evening. Mr. Nydegger was born in Switzerland, April 1st, 1845, and came to the United States, with his family in 1882. In 1893, they removed to Danville and have lived her continuously since that time, during the last ten years in the family residence on West Voorhees street. For a number of years, he was prominently connected with the C & E I shops, later having been employed as caretaker of one of the large department stores of the city. In his native country, he had been a keeper of bees and continued this work, on a small scale after coming to Danville, where he has always been very highly regarded by a large circle of friends, who knew him honest in business, faithful in matters of friendshop and a good citizen.
Surviving with the widow, Mrs. Magdaline Nudegger, are three daughters and four sons, Mrs. Louise Degelman, of San Diego, California; Mrs. Emma Houser, of Farmer City, Illinois; Mrs. Charlotte Jackson, of Danville; Dr. Carl Nydegger, of Laramie, Wyoming; Ernest, of San Francisco, California; Adolph, of Milwaukee, and John of Detroit, Michigan. A son, Robert, well know here, died about five years ago, in San Francisco.
Funeral services will be held at the family residence, 801 West Voorhees street, at 2:00 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Mr. Dilling, of the German M. E. Church, officiating. Interment will be made in Springhill cemetery.
