*"Charles Gruber married Susanna Drapper, they lived in Tilton, and Charles was a coal miner, served with the village board as superintendent of the street department, fire chief, and policeman for several years. Charles also played ball for the Barger White Team.
They also operated an ice cream parlor in the old Odd Fellows building, on 5th street near Tilton School. They were members of the Tilton M. E. Church and are both buried at Songer. Born to them were Bernice (1904) married Glenn Stevens, child ?, Robert Stevens, Margaret Elizabeth (1906 - 1906), Charles Alfred (1910) married Ruth McCubbin, children Daonna Jean, Freddie Charles, Carl (1912) married Rhoda Garrison, children Shirley Ann, Nancy June, Wilber Lincoln (1915) married Violet Davis (1920), children Joyce, Janet Lee, Brenda Jane, Gerald LeRoy (1924 - 1929).
