*From the Commercial News, January 6, 1883, "The pen of the historian (that's what we are) will record the fact that Abe Draper built the first house that was erected in Tilton in the year 1883 and that Balsey Brothers were the architects. The building is already up and nearly enclosed. Twenty years hence when Tilton shall be a city with thousands of inhabitants, it will be a pleasure for Mr. Draper, as he sits perhaps in a splendid mansion to relate to his grandchildren that he built the first house in Tilton in 1883."
